New Assistant Principal Named at Maple Dale

Mindy Zellner The Sycamore Board of Education has approved Mindy Zellner as the new assistant principal at Maple Dale Elementary. Mrs. Zellner, who has served as the district’s Gifted Supervisor and Coordinator, will assume her new role on July 1, 2016. She replaces Mrs. Anne Marie Reinke who will become principal at Maple Dale.

“Mrs. Zellner brings incredible passion to Maple Dale and will collaborate with Mrs. Reinke to form a dynamic leadership team,” said Frank Forsthoefel, superintendent. “We are so blessed to have Mindy join our administrative team and share her incredible talents.”

Mrs. Zellner is a 1993 Sycamore High School graduate. She started her educational career at Sycamore in 1998 as a second grade teacher at Symmes Elementary School. Zellner also taught 3rd and 4th grade before moving into the role of gifted intervention specialist at Maple Dale Elementary School in 2002. In the 11 years that Zellner worked as gifted intervention specialist, she saw an evolution of gifted education which went from being served once a week in a resource room setting to being served daily in an accelerated setting for both math and language arts.

In 2013, Zellner became the District Gifted Supervisor/Coordinator for grades K-12. Zellner has collaborated with the assistant superintendent, administrators, teachers, and community to implement innovative gifted programming. She also oversees MAP testing for the district and co-leads Sycamore's STEAM Council. Zellner will continue to coordinate district services and programs for gifted students as she takes on her new role as assistant principal, in alignment with the district’s plan to move curriculum and instructional services to building leadership.

"Mindy brings a wealth of curricular understanding to the role of assistant principal,” said Anne Marie Reinke. “Her professionalism, combined with her knowledge about working with exceptional students will be a tremendous asset to Maple Dale Elementary."

Zellner earned her bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, her master’s degree in elementary education from Xavier University, her Gifted License from Ashland University, and is currently working on her Principal's License at University of Cincinnati.

Zellner resides in Mason with her husband, Rob, and her three daughters, Caroline, Isabelle, and Olivia.
