Google Accounts
Sycamore students are provided with a Google account. While students in grades PK-8 have an email address associated with this Google account, for safety and security purposes, they are only able to utilize this email within our sycamoreschools.org domain. In addition, student Google accounts are utilized to access many platforms and programs for daily education, such as Canvas and Google Drive. These accounts are intended to be used for educational purposes only.
Chromebooks
PK-4: Students will have access to Chromebook carts.
5-12: Students will be assigned a Chromebook with the privilege to take home each night. All students are expected to follow the One2One Device Usage Agreement.
Chromebook Filters
On Campus: We utilize a district-wide firewall as well as a device-filter, Blocksi.
Off Campus: Blocksi is on all student devices with preset filters. Parents have the ability to create additional controls by creating a Blocksi account.
* Please note: Although devices are filtered, we recommend students still be monitored and taught positive online behaviors, while learning the possibilities and pitfalls of living in an integrated digital society.
Learning Management System
During the 22-23 school year, the Sycamore Community School District started transitioning to the district-wide use of Canvas as the Learning Management System (LMS) used for all staff and students. We are continuing to further this implementation and parents are encouraged to create Canvas accounts (mobile | desktop) to connect to their Sycamore student(s). Click here for additional information about Canvas or access the Canvas for Parents and Guardians module here.
Responsible Use Principles
All students are expected to follow the Responsible Use Principles while utilizing Sycamore Community School resources on and off campus.
