  • As a PTO, we love to create amazing experiences for kids and enhance their learning. Our community of parents come together every year to make this happen at the Greene School. There are a number of ways you can get involved and be a part of the fun – with a wide range of commitment levels.   • One-Time Events Volunteer Opportunities

    Lifetouch Helpers – two or three times/school year
    You can volunteer to assist the Lifetouch Photographers on Picture Day and receive a voucher to use toward your picture purchase!

    Homeroom Parent Coordinator - August/September 2019
    Homeroom Parents help the teachers coordinate fun parties for our kids! This is another perfect way to stay connected with what’s going on at Greene!

    Parent Lunch Week - September 9-13, 2019
    Is there a better time to connect with your student and his/her friends?! Lunch time! The PTO provides volunteers who greet and help guests sign-in to the building.

    Walk-a-Thon - September 26, 2019, 8:30 am – 2:30 pm
    This event has become such a blast for the kids over the past few years! It’s also one of our most successful fundraisers – with each team collecting donations in order to earn some crazy fun at the end of the competition!

    Health and Wellness - Fall 2019
    Our school nurse completes vision and hearing screenings each fall. The PTO provides extra hands to make this program run smoothly!

    Carnival - February 8, 2020, 11 am – 3 pm
    This is one of our biggest events of the year and includes something fun for everyone! We’ll have food, games, prizes, a silent auction filled with donations from local businesses, and TONS of fun! Definitely an event that you don’t want to miss!

    Author Visit - February 20 – 21, 2020
    The PTO welcomes a nationally-known author to visit EHG each year. We publicize the event, organize book sales, schedule contests for the students, and host the author during his/her visit to the Greene School.

    Math and Science Convention - Spring 2020
    This PTO team supports the lead teacher in making our Math and Science event a huge success!

    Cultural Night - April 23, 2020
    Every other year, we showcase the diversity within our Greene School community. This amazing event is another great way to connect with other Sycamore friends and families!

    Sixth Grade Picnic - May 14-15, 2020, 10 am – 2:30 pm
    We provide our 6th graders a chance to celebrate together before they move up to Jr. High! Our team of volunteers coordinate food, games, and fun! This event is held at Swaim Park.

    Sixth Grade Ceremony - May 20, 2020, 8:30 am – 11:30 am
    This ceremony is our way for families and staff members to honor each of our 6th grader’s accomplishments during their time at the Greene School...such a great way to wrap up the year!

    Field Day - May 21, 2020
    The PTO volunteers collaborate with our PE teachers for Field Day each year. The kids always look forward to this event – and to celebrating the end of the school year!

  • Year-Long Volunteer Opportunities

    Art Room Support - Our PTO volunteers help the art teacher display student artwork throughout the school.

    Box Tops Fundraiser - Our PTO collects Box Tops for Education. We submit these at two points in the school year as part of our Hassle-Free Fundraising program.

    Community Outreach - Our PTO organizes a clothing drive, as well as other projects to support those in need within our community.

    Eco Team - Throughout the school year, the PTO helps encourage the students to ‘Go Green!” We also collaborate with school teachers and staff to celebrate Earth Week in the spring.

    GEAR Representative - Our PTO connects with the Gifted Education Advocacy and Resource group within Sycamore. Our representative shares GEAR activities and resources with the PTO.

    Greene Thumb - Our PTO helps maintain the beautiful flower pots throughout the school grounds.Hospitality - Our Hospitality Team helps host events such as the New to the District Welcome, the PTO Welcome Back Coffee, and the 4th Grade Parent Orientation.

    Lost and Found - You would be amazed at how many items are lost throughout the school year! This group helps our kiddos find all those misplaced jackets, lunchboxes, and books!

    Media Center Support - Our PTO volunteers help shelve books in the Media Center each week.

    Staff Appreciation Committee - The teachers and staff at the Greene School go above and beyond for our kiddos! This committee organizes luncheons and other special treats during Teacher Appreciation Week.

    Sycamore Wellness Committee – This group helps organize events that encourage our Aves to stay strong and healthy!

    Greene Volunteer Coordinator - The Greene School PTO volunteers are always ready to pitch-in to ensure that we create amazing experiences for our kids! This position will help connect our volunteers with the programs and events throughout the year.

    Yearbook Editor / Photographers - The kids love to look back at the pictures of all the wonderful memories they’ve made at the Greene School. Our yearbook volunteers put together such an amazing keepsake each year!
