Symmes Players, an after-school drama group, is one of the PTO’s hallmark programs that makes Symmes Elementary a truly unique school. The program provides an opportunity for Symmes students to fully experience the performing arts first hand. Each winter, 3rd- and 4th-grade students are invited to try out for the show. Every child that chooses to participate gets a part. Practices begin in late January, and performances are in late April or early May. The first show in 1998 was "Once Upon a Shoe." More recently, musicals have included “Beauty and the Beast Jr.”, “School House Rock Jr.”, "Little Mermaid Jr.", "My Son Pinocchio Jr", and "The Lion King, Jr." Symmes Players celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017 with the Symmes Players Review and "Alice in Wonderland, Jr."
