Sycamore Sports Medicine

  • The sports medicine team embraces the following mission: To reduce the incidence and severity of injuries among student athletes whenever possible. Injury prevention is the key. Making competent medical care readily available to the student-athletes of Sycamore Community Schools. To educate athletes, parents, and coaches in the proper prevention and management of athletic injuries.

Sports Medicine Staff

  • Chris Bonnell M.Ed., AT, ATC  - Chris has been with TriHealth since 2007, and at Sycamore Community Schools since 2016. He obtained his Bachelor's of Science from the University of Indianapolis and a Master’s in Education from Xavier University. Prior to coming to Sycamore, Chris has worked in several settings including, as the Athletic Trainer for Norwood High School for 9 years. He currently serves as a Lead Athletic Trainer with TriHealth Orthopedic and Sports Institute. www.trihealth.com Chris has experience working with athletes of all levels and ages, including youth athletes to professional athletes. He currently serves as a preceptor for Mount Saint Joseph's University, University of Cincinnati, and Xavier University, where he is also an adjunct professor. In addition he is a member of NATA, GLATA, OATA & GCATA. He is also president elect for the Greater Cincinnati Athletic Trainers' Association. bonnellc@sycamoreschools.org 


    Darren Howard MS, AT -  Darren has been with TriHealth and Sycamore High School since 2015. He received his Bachelor of Science from Wilmington College and a Master’s of Science from American Military University. He has worked in several settings prior to Sycamore including the Ohio State University and Marion High School. He is a member of the NATA, GLATA, OATA and GCATA. howardd@sycamoreschools.org


    Linda Baynes MBA, LAT, ATC - Linda has been with TriHealth since 2014. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Coe College and a Master’s in Sports Management from Columbia Southern University. Prior to Sycamore she has experience working at the collegiate level, physical therapy setting, and orthopedic clinic setting. She is an ECSI instructor for CPR/First Aid and certified by the AHA. She is a member of the NATA, GLATA, OATA, and GCATA. baynesl@sycamoreschools.org


    Dr. Andrew Islam­ - TriHealth Orthopedics and Sports Institute, Dr. Islam completed his fellowship in Orthopedic Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic. He has extensive training regarding the care of the injured athlete. He sees patients in Mason and Montgomery as well as attends many Sycamore High School sporting events. (513) 346­-1500


    Dr. Emily Dixon­ - Dr Dixon joins Sycamore as a Primary Care Sports Medicine physician from TriHealth Orthopedic and Sports Institute. She is board certified in Family Medicine as well as Sports Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine. She also sees patients in Kenwood, Mason, and at Sycamore sporting events. Dr. Dixon is an expert on the care of sports concussions and academic effects. (513) 246­-2300

TriHealth Partnership

  • trihealth logo TriHealth’s commitment and partnership with the Sycamore Community Schools provides three full time athletic trainers to oversee daily training room operations and event coverage. In addition to our athletic trainers and volunteer team physicians, TriHealth provides free pre­participation physicals for our student athletes, ImPACT concussion management software, medical supplies and is a major donor for our high school field turf project.
