Welcome from the Sycamore High School Parent Teacher Organization (SHS PTO). We are a 501(c)3 organization that is committed to support the families and staff at the Sycamore High School. Perusing this site will give you an overview of the activities and events that we sponsor.
What do we do for staff? We help fund school-wide projects, such as a floor covering for the gym area, and teacher specific requests, such as calculators for the math department, and tools for the art department. We hold several staff meals throughout the year, and provide a few other special surprises to show our appreciation for the staff.
What do we do for parents? We use the directory spot app for connecting parents, we share information at our monthly PTO meetings and we sponsor several “Coffee with Counselor” sessions which gives an opportunity for our counseling staff to offer pertinent and timely advice to parents.
What do we do for students? In addition to sponsoring 5 scholarships for seniors and providing funds to administration and counselors to be used when needed to help students and student causes, we sponsor 3 separate, self-funded activities. Odd Couples is for everyone. This dance, held in March, is funded through its ticket sales. It is an opportunity for each student to bring a parent, guardian or other significant adult to enjoy appetizers, dinner and dancing in the commons which is transformed with decorations. It is a truly special Sycamore tradition. The AfterProm, our second event, is a safe party funded through parent and community donations as well as ticket sales. AfterProm takes place at the school from 10:30 pm until 2:30 am on the morning after the prom. Junior/Seniors and their dance dates enjoy inflatables, games, food, shows and tons of fun. Lastly, the Senior Class Committee, funded through parent donations, celebrates our oldest students as they navigate their last year at SHS. They will have surprises and special activities throughout the year.
