Public Participation
The Board of Education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters of community interest.
The Board offers a public participation section at the beginning of each regular meeting, during which time stakeholders may address the Board on topics not included on the agenda.
To address the Board you must be:
- a resident of the district
- a parent/guardian of a student in the district
- alumni of the district
- employee of the district
- individual who owns a business in the district
- and/or an elected/appointed public official whose jurisdiction includes the district.
Individuals who wish to speak about topics that are on the agenda will have the opportunity to address the Board at the time the agenda item is being presented. Public participation on agenda items occurs after a motion is made and seconded by the Board. Following Board discussion, individuals may make comments or ask questions prior to a vote.
In order for the Board to fulfill its obligation to complete the planned agenda in an effective and efficient fashion, a maximum of 30 minutes of public participation may be permitted at each meeting.
