Early Admission to Kindergarten

Kindergarten Early Entrance allows students to start kindergarten before reaching the typical age, providing access to challenging learning opportunities.

As it is equivalent to grade acceleration, the process is comprehensive and stringent. A team reviews each applicant’s information, considering cognitive test scores, advanced reading and math skills, oral language, social skills, and emotional maturity.

To apply, complete the Kindergarten Early Entrance Application and the Kindergarten Readiness Checklist. A second copy of the Kindergarten Readiness checklist can be completed by someone who knows the child well, such as a pediatrician, preschool teacher, or childcare provider. Submit these materials to the school your child would attend, addressed to the school psychologist.

For discussions or questions about Kindergarten Early Entrance, please contact the building principal or school psychologist. Requests for early entrance testing should be sent to the building principal, who will coordinate testing with the school psychologist. All testing is completed before the school year starts. Applications must be submitted by August 1 to ensure assessments are done in time for the child to start on the first day of school.
