Special Education
At Sycamore Community Schools, we are dedicated to the success of every child. Our Special Education Department strives to ensure that each student feels successful every day. We achieve this through individualized support, a range of service delivery options, fostering academic and social development, and upholding each student's dignity and respect.
Collaboration between parents, support staff, and regular educators is essential to facilitate the independence and success of each student.
Our Special Education Department offers a continuum of services to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. We promote inclusion by providing these services in the least restrictive environment (LRE), meaning appropriate services are offered within the general education setting whenever possible.
We use a Response to Intervention (RtI) model to identify and address the strengths and needs of struggling learners. This collaborative, student-focused process involves parents and core team members in analyzing data, setting individual goals, brainstorming intervention options, developing action plans, and assessing the effectiveness of interventions.
