Child Find

The Sycamore Community School District participates in efforts to locate, identify, and evaluate all children with disabilities, from birth through 21 years of age, who may be in need of special education and related services who reside in our district. For infants and toddlers, a disability means that a child has a delay in one or more of the following developmental areas: adaptive behavior, cognition, communication, physical development, vision, hearing, and/or social-emotional functioning. For preschoolers and school-age children, a disability means having one or more conditions defined by federal regulations and state standards. These disabilities include: autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability, deaf-blindness, deafness, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment (including blindness), and developmental delay. Resident parents, or other community agencies who have children with special needs are encouraged to contact the Sycamore Community Schools Office of Student Services (513) 686-1780.
