Advanced Math Pathway

Mathematics in Sycamore Community Schools is designed to be more than just a series of calculations and algorithms; it is a journey toward deep logical reasoning, communication, real-world connection, and problem-solving.

Sycamore's Advanced Math Pathway is specifically designed to support students whose data indicate advanced math readiness. Courses in the Advanced Math Pathway provide a rigorous, intentional track toward higher-level mathematics. The primary purpose is to ensure that students who are prepared for increased challenges can successfully reach Algebra I or Geometry by eighth grade, setting a strong foundation for advanced coursework in high school.

By using a compacted curriculum, Sycamore students on the Advanced Math Pathway move through foundational standards at a faster pace without skipping the critical mathematical concepts essential to long-term success. Opportunities for students to join the Advanced Math Pathway begin in third grade, with multiple on-ramps continuing through junior high school.

This webpage provides resources to help families understand and navigate the Advanced Math Pathway. Our goal is to place every student in a learning environment that provides the right level of rigor at the right time, building the conceptual and abstract mathematical ability for students to excel in Algebra, Calculus, and beyond.
