Five Year Forecast

Sycamore Community Schools releases a five-year forecast bi-annually to engage the Board and community in long-term planning and discussions of financial issues facing the school district.

A forecast is a snapshot of our current financial outlook, based on historical trends, current circumstances, and future assumptions. However, this snapshot will change over time. The further a forecast looks into the future, the more likely it is that the predictions will vary from reality. Various factors can affect the later years of a forecast, including changes in state budgets (updated every two years), tax levies (new, renewed, or replaced), salary adjustments, shifts in enrollment, and businesses moving in or out of the district.

The five-year forecast is an essential management tool that must be regularly updated. It helps district leaders review future projections and identify potential challenges, allowing the district to take proactive steps to address these issues. School districts are encouraged to update their forecasts with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW) when significant events impact their projections, or, at a minimum, as required by law.
