Sycamore Community Schools

Board Policy

Sycamore Community Schools maintains a comprehensive set of Board of Education policies that guide district operations and decision-making. The district maintains a standing Policy Committee made up of Board of Education members and district administrators. The committee regularly reviews existing policies, considers updates, and recommends actions to the Board of Education.

Policy recommendations move through a structured public process that includes a first read, second read, and formal approval at a Board of Education meeting. Public input is always welcome and encouraged throughout this process.

The district is currently undergoing a transition from OSBA policy templates to NEOLA. This extensive review and modernization effort will continue through Summer 2026, culminating in the Board of Education adopting the full NEOLA policy set. During this transition, some individual policies have already been approved due to legislative or administrative needs.

The Board of Education will continue to consider the recommendations from its Policy Committee.

When the Board of Education acts to rescind a policy, the new policy it adopts will be in effect from the date of Board of Education approval. Further, in the event that the new adopted policy conflicts with any existing Board of Education policies not yet been reviewed or changed, the new policies approved will control over any conflicting language.
