Public Participation

The Board of Education recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on school matters of community interest.

TO ADDRESS THE BOARD YOU MUST BE A DEFINED STAKEHOLDER.  PLEASE INDICATE YOUR CONNECTION TO THE DISTRICT BELOW.

  • RESIDENT 
  • A PARENT/GUARDIAN OF A STUDENT IN THE DISTRICT
  • ALUMNI OF THE DISTRICT
  • EMPLOYEE OF THE DISTRICT
  • INDIVIDUAL WHO OWNS A BUSINESS IN THE DISTRICT
  • AND/OR AN ELECTED/APPOINTED PUBLIC OFFICIAL WHOSE JURISDICTION INCLUDES THE DISTRICT.

Non-Agenda Items

The Board offers public participation on non-agenda items at the beginning of each regular meeting.  Each speaker will have 3 minutes to address any one particular topic or item.

Agenda Items

Individuals who wish to address the Board about topics that are on the agenda will have the opportunity to address the Board at the time the agenda item is being discussed.  Public participation on agenda items occurs after a motion is made and seconded by the Board.  Following Board discussion, individuals may make comments prior to a vote.

In order for the Board to fulfill its obligation to complete the planned agenda in an effective and efficient fashion, a maximum of 30 minutes of public participation may be permitted at each meeting.

How do I submit an in-person public participation request? 
 
  1. Email Treasurer/CFO, Brody Burson at bursonb@sycamoreschools.org in advance of the meeting.

  2. Please provide your name and topic you’d like to discuss

  3. You may also fill out a public participation form at the site of the meeting and submit it to Brody Burson prior to the start of the meeting.
