AVES Council (High School) & STAR Council (Junior High)

Student Voice. Leadership in Action.

Membership is by invitation and is based on demonstrated leadership, peer influence, and a desire to contribute positively to the school community. Participation helps students build meaningful leadership, communication, and advocacy skills while making a lasting impact within their schools.

AVES Council (high school) and STAR Council (junior high) are student leadership groups formed in partnership by the Superintendent and school principals. These councils are made up of select students who meet monthly exclusively with the Superintendent to share feedback, discuss challenges, and collaborate on ways to improve the student experience across Sycamore Community Schools.

These groups serve as a direct bridge between students and district leadership—amplifying student voices on issues such as school culture, communication, and overall well-being. Students provide honest insight that helps inform decisions and shape a more inclusive and responsive learning environment.
