The mission of Montgomery Elementary's school library media center is to provide an accessible, enjoyable, welcoming place for students, teachers, and staff to find books, resources, and materials that will promote a love of reading and lifelong learning. Each class visits the library once a week, but students are always welcome to come in throughout the week, with teacher permission, to check out new books and participate in research.

It is our philosophy at Montgomery Elementary that our media center will be an integral part of our students' education.  It will provide teachers and staff with current resources and technology to be used in giving our students the best education possible.  A collaborative effort between the teachers and the media specialist will ensure that all students learn the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the future.  Students will use the media center as a place to enjoy quality literature and take an active part in learning information literacy skills.

Our goals are to help students acquire an interest in and enjoyment of reading, maintain a balanced collection of resources that meet the needs of all users, support the curriculum by providing needed materials and appropriate guidance and instruction to students, and cooperatively plan with teachers to provide activities that integrate information literacy and research skills. 

A few things to note:

• Students in grades K-4 may have up to 3 books checked out. All books must be returned on time. Books may be renewed a reasonable number of times, but must be presented for renewal.
• There are no overdue fines for late books. however, children may not borrow any new library materials until the overdue items are returned. Parents are asked not to pay for lost items until the end of the year in hopes that they will be found and returned.
