We are excited to welcome our newest Aviators — the Class of 2039!

Sycamore offers both a tuition based full-day program and a tuition free half-day program. We are proud to provide flexibility for families to choose between our two outstanding programs. Some children thrive in an all-day routine, while others benefit from a half-day schedule with time for exploration. Both programs follow the same curriculum and maintain the same academic expectations. The full-day kindergarten program is tuition-based, while the half-day option is offered at no cost to families.

CHANGE IN ELIGIBILITY: Based on a new law, as of January 2026, all Ohio school districts are required to follow a uniform age-eligibility requirement. Children must now be five years old by the first day of their district's instruction to enroll in kindergarten. For Sycamore, that means children must be five on or before August 17, 2026.

Registration event opens January 12, 2026 and runs through February 13, 2026

Full Day Kindergarten

Full-Day Kindergarten:
A Full Day of Learning and Play!

Our full-day program (9:10 AM – 3:55 PM) offers transportation, lunch at school, extra recess, and enriching academic and exploratory activities. Students enjoy “specials” like art, music, PE, and library, plus access to additional support services. Registration for the 2026–2027 school year begins Monday, January 12, 2026.

Half-Day Kindergarten

Half-Day Kindergarten: A Strong Start to Learning!

Our half-day program (9:10 AM–12:10 PM or 12:50–3:55 PM) provides a nurturing, engaging introduction to school. Students participate in academic activities, enjoy art, music, PE, and library each week, and receive individualized support. Registration for the 2026–2027 school year begins Monday, January 12, 2026.

Kindergarten Program Comparison

Sycamore Community Schools offers two kindergarten options—Full-Day and Half-Day—to support different learning needs and family preferences. Review the comparison below to see which program best fits your child.

Enrollment Steps

Sycamore Community Schools does not offer open enrollment.

Students and their parents must currently be living within our district boundaries to enroll.

Please read all information carefully: failure to follow these steps could result in a delay of registration.

How to Register

We use Final Forms for registration.
All parent forms must be completed, and required documents must be uploaded before your application can be processed.

New families to the district:
Click here to begin the online registration process with Final Forms.
Select “New Student” to begin filling out your information.

Current families in the district:
Log in to your Final Forms account to add a student.

Required Documents

Once enrollment opens on January 12, 2026, you’ll complete your child’s registration through Final Forms.

To make the process quick and easy, please have the following items ready to upload

List of required documents

Student’s birth certificate or passport

Proof of residency within the district

Please upload one of the following that applies to your housing situation:

If you own your home: Current mortgage statement or Deed to the home.
If you are renting: Current signed lease listing all occupants. If you are living in an apartment, the parent/guardian’s name must be on the lease.
If living in a house owned by another person: Affidavit II. This form must also be accompanied by either a current mortgage statement or deed from the homeowner.
If building or purchasing a home: Agreement of Understanding. This form must be accompanied by the contract to build or purchase. You must be able to occupy the home within 90 days of registration.

You’ll also need to upload a current utility bill (water, gas, or electric) showing your name and address.

Notify the District Registrar

Send an email to our district registrar (registration@sycamoreschools.org) to let her know you've completed Final Forms and uploaded all necessary documents for registration. In the subject line use only your child's first and last name.

Once your registration has been completed, you will receive a confirmation email along with more information and important upcoming dates!!

Is My Child Ready for Kindergarten?

Kindergarten Readiness

Hold a pencil or crayon and be able to color
Hold scissors and be able to cut
Print their name
Know basic color and simple shapes
Understand spatial words such as over, above, beside and in between
Work on a task over a period of time
Sustain attention for story time and sharing
Represent simple objects through drawing
Retell a story in sequential order
Sort objects in categories
Recognize some numbers
Be able to count objects up to ten
Identify upper and lower case letters

Clean up their personal space, including toys and tools
Know their first and last names
Know how to unpack their backpack and put things in it
Takes care of self in the bathroom
Put on their coats, button or zip
Realize there will be other children in class and they share a teacher’s time
Cover their mouths when coughing or sneezing
Share materials and toys with others
Show concern about fairness
Follow two- or three-part directions, such as “We’re going to put backpacks away, take our folders out, and hang up our coats”

Tuition Assistance Guidelines

Sycamore Community Schools offers tuition waivers for families that qualify based on household size and income. Determination is based on Federal Income Eligibility Guidelines via the Free and Reduced Price School Meals Family Application. The application is available to complete online July 1.
