Report A Concern

Sycamore Community Schools is dedicated to effective communication and collaboration with families. We believe most solutions come from dialogue at the school level.

Students and families are encouraged to follow our Problem-Solving Model. Within this framework students and families are encouraged to address any questions or concerns with the adult staff most directly involved with their concern, (i.e. grading, detentions, etc.) to find a workable solution. Should a student still have concerns after working directly with a teacher/staff member, they are encouraged to seek out the assistance of their school counselor.

Polite and respectful collaboration can lead to understanding and resolution.

Bullying

The Board does not tolerate hazing, harassment, intimidation or bullying of any student on District property or at any school-sponsored event, regardless of whether the event occurs on or off District property (including on school buses and other school-related vehicles). Students who engage in such behavior are subject to disciplinary action, including suspension or expulsion from school. The Board's commitment to addressing such prohibited behavior involves a multi-faceted approach, which includes education and the promotion of a school atmosphere in which hazing, harassment, intimidation, dating violence and/or bullying will not be tolerated by students, staff or administration.

Title IX

The Sycamore Community School District is committed to providing equal opportunities as well as a learning and work environment free from discrimination. In compliance with newly revised federal mandates related to Title IX, Sycamore Community Schools has revised Board Policies:

The Board adheres to all compliance mandates required under federal law, thus the Board encourages those within the District who feel aggrieved to seek assistance to resolve such issues. The Title IX Coordinator will serve as the grievance officer and coordinate the District’s efforts to comply with and carry out the responsibilities under Title IX, including any complaint under Title IX. The Title IX Coordinator is vested with the authority and responsibility for coordinating the ACAA-R- Sexual Harassment Grievance Process when addressing all sexual harassment complaints.
