Darryn Chenault

Sycamore High School is excited to announce Darryn Chenault as our new head football coach and Student Safety and Success Coordinator, pending Board approval. Coach Chenault is a lifelong Cincinnati native and proud University of Cincinnati alumnus.

“Coach Chenault brings over 30 years of coaching experience, a commitment to mentorship, and a vision for creating a culture of excellence on and off the field,” said Andrew Ovington, Athletic Director. “His passion for building relationships with our student athletes and our community will have a positive impact on our school district.”

Coach Chenault began his career at Roger Bacon High School, where he discovered his passion for developing young athletes and building strong defensive strategies. Since then, he has shaped student athletes into leaders while fostering team success at Moeller, Lakota East, Lakota West, Little Miami, Finneytown, and Princeton High Schools. Known for his defensive expertise, strategic innovation, and ability to inspire, his teams have consistently achieved playoff appearances and championships.

“My goal is to build on that legacy and develop a program that thrives for the next 20 years and beyond. I’m excited to work with these talented, hardworking kids—I truly believe they’re capable of achieving greatness,” said Chenault.

Coach Chenault’s impact extends beyond football. He has also coached basketball, track and field, and baseball, including guiding a student-athlete to a State Championship in the Track and Field Seated Division Shot Put.

Off the field, Coach Chenault has been a force for good in the community. As a Community Engagement Officer at the University of Cincinnati, he created programs like the UCPD Benevolent Fund and Shop with a Cop to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and underserved youth. He co-founded Black Tie Protective Services and has served as the Safety and Security Consultant for Cincinnati Classical Schools. Additionally, as the executive director and co-founder of S3C, a nonprofit supporting families affected by cancer, he has provided scholarships and resources for over 16 years. Following his own life-saving kidney transplant, he has also become a passionate advocate for organ donation.

“My focus is on building enthusiasm and creating a culture of excellence and pride for the Sycamore Aviator community,” Chenault added. “I can’t wait to get to work, both on the field and in this amazing community.”

Coach Chenault lives in Cincinnati with his wife, Sherrie, and their daughters, Kennedy and Sydney. His family shares his passion for service and community, inspiring his leadership in all areas of life.

Sycamore High School is proud to welcome Coach Chenault to the Aviator family. His extensive experience, leadership, and dedication will ensure the continued success and growth of our football program.
