Sycamore Music Ensembles To Perform at State Conference
Sycamore Community Schools is proud to announce that two ensembles from Sycamore Junior High School have been invited to perform during the 2016 Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Professional Development Conference.
The Sycamore Junior High 8th Grade Band and the Junior High Orchestra will perform before more than 2,900 music educators from throughout the state during the annual conference held at the Duke Energy Convention Center, Jan. 28-30. Both performances are free and open to the public.
The 8th Grade Band will perform on Thursday, Jan. 28 at 1:15 p.m. The group had strong participation during the past year in OMEA District 14 Junior High Honor Band, Junior High Solo and Ensemble, and received a superior rating in Class A at the District 14 Junior High Large Group Contest.
The Junior High Orchestra, which consists of the 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras, will perform on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 10:30 a.m. Members of the orchestra are well represented in various honor orchestras in the area, including the CSYO Concert Orchestra, Cincinnati Junior Strings, and the District 14 Honors Orchestra. This will be their eighth appearance at the OMEA Professional Development Conference.
The annual conference is one of the largest state conferences in the country, with more than 9,000 in attendance. This is a unique opportunity for Sycamore Schools to showcase Sycamore Junior High and it’s Instrumental Music Program.
