Sycamore High Students Head to State Educator Competition
Sycamore Community Schools is proud to announce 24 Sycamore High School students have advanced to the Ohio Educators Rising State Conference and Competition. These students are currently participating in Teaching Professions Learning Community at Sycamore High School. The group is heading to Columbus March 10-11 to compete in 12 different events, varying from creative lecture to children’s literature.
Annika Bottcher, Emily Gutierrez, Jordan Hoffman, Quinn Orman, Rachel Martin, Sarah Guckenberger, Courtney Koosman, Abbie Bird, Erin McElroy, Emma Jean Clar, Macey Burke, Julia Copfer, Hannah Young, Anne Williams, Diego Palacios, Ana Griffith, Olivia Shuholm, and Larson Kent will be competing against other future educators from across the state. These students collaborated with various members of Sycamore staff in order to prepare for their competition entries.To become finalists, they created lesson plans and then taught them in classrooms across the district. If selected, they will advance to the Educators Rising National Conference in Boston in June.
Sycamore’s Teaching Professions Academy (TPA) students have also been invited to host workshops at the conference. Seniors Amy Bitzer, Patty Blood, Corrine Gause, and Avery Harris will hold breakout sessions for their peers and professionals.
Sycamore High School’s TPA program was recently named one of 11 Honors Chapter in the State of Ohio. Outside of competition, students are given the opportunity for real life application through classroom internships.
