Join Sycamore High School’s Marching Band for a night of entertainment while helping fight hunger in our community. Strike Up The Band For Hunger will be held on Friday, November 6, from 6:30-7 p.m. at Sycamore High School’s soccer stadium. The annual performance and food drive benefits Operation Give Back, a local nonprofit organization that provides outreach to families in our community.
The Marching Aviators will perform music from the 2015 marching season and their award-winning show, “That’s A Stretch.” This will be the band’s final performance before they compete in the Mid-States Band Association Championships on November 7.
Fans are asked to bring two non-perishable food items to donate as admission. No donation is required for elementary students and younger. Operation Give Back will distribute the items collected to families this holiday season.
“We experience such tremendous support from the Sycamore Community that we want to show our appreciation by giving back to those in our community that need our help,” said Lonnie Stover, Sycamore High School music department supervisor. “As we enter the holiday season we have many things to be thankful for and what better way to show that thankfulness than by sharing with those in need?”
Operation Give Back needs canned meats, fruits and vegetables, which are in high demand during the holiday season. Participants can also bring easy to prepare canned soups or peanut butter and jelly.
