Sycamore High School to host Volley for the Cure

The Sycamore High School girls volleyball teams will be hosting their annual Volley for the Cure Wednesday, September 21. Each year money is raised for the Susan G. Komen foundation which supports research efforts, education and health services for breast cancer. The Lady Aves will be taking on rival Mason with the freshman and junior varsity match at 5:00 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6:30 p.m.

In between the JV and varsity games, a special rose ceremony will take place to honor survivors, those who are currently battling cancer, and those who have passed away. Each team member will be playing for someone affected by breast cancer. To accompany the ceremony a past Sycamore alumni who was recently diagnosed with cancer will be speaking the fans and the team about her journey and the importance of fundraisers like Volley for the Cure.

Leading up to the event members of the team have been selling t-shirts to support the effort for $10. Anyone who purchases a shirt will get into the games for free, all other supporters will be required to pay normal admission prices. Additional shirts will be available for purchase at the event. Raffle Baskets and a bake sale will are also a part of the fundraising effort during the event. All proceeds go directly to breast cancer research.

Come and show your support for the Lady Aves as they fight to end breast cancer.
