Marketing Students Excel at State Competition
Sycamore High School marketing students recently competed and excelled at the state DECA competition in Columbus, Ohio. 32 students placed in the top 10 for their events and 16 of those advanced to the international competition.
The marketing class, led by Mark Steedly, competes annually with an organization called DECA, which prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges internationally.
At the state competition students competed in both impromptu role plays and written events. They were tested on their knowledge of marketing concepts and presented business ideas in front of judges. There were three first place winners: Max Hill, Nicole Crone, and Bennett Heyn.
Those who qualified for the international competition will have the opportunity to travel to Anaheim, California in late April to compete.
