Longtime Board of Education Member Retiring
Longtime Sycamore Community Schools Board of Education member Jean Staubach has announced she will not seek re-election in the November 2017 election.
"Other than raising my family, Board service has been the most rewarding and challenging thing I have ever done,” said Staubach. “I want to spend more time with grandchildren and feel the time is right to make room for another member of the community to contribute to the future of our schools."
Staubach has been an active member of the Board since first being elected in 1997, serving five terms. She was elected by fellow board members as President in 2001, 2006, 2007, and 2016. She also served as vice president for four years. Staubach has resided in Sycamore since 1989 and has four children who graduated from Sycamore High School.
“On behalf of the entire Sycamore Family, we commend Jean’s 20 years of public service to the students, staff, and families of our school district,” Frank Forsthoefel, said. “Her passion for making decisions in the interest of Sycamore students while vigorously protecting the investment of our taxpayers will leave a lasting legacy.”
