Sycamore Welcomes New Treasurer
After months of extensive research and interviews, the Sycamore Board of Education has selected one of Ohio’s premier school treasurers to lead our financial services.
The Board approved Jenni Logan as the district’s new treasurer during a special meeting on May 6. Logan will replace longtime award-winning treasurer Beth Weber, who is retiring in July.
“Choosing the right financial leader for our district was extremely important to the Board and we are confident Mrs.Logan will exceed the high expectations of our community and district,” said Paul Balent, Board President. “Her depth and breadth of knowledge on public school financing along with her outstanding leadership abilities and experience as a Treasurer will have an immediate impact on our district and community.”
Logan served as treasurer of Lakota Local Schools for 11 years, helping steer the district through financial challenges. Under her leadership, Lakota achieved 10 years of balanced budgets, and received the Auditor of State Award with Distinction for eight consecutive years. Lakota also achieved one of the highest bond ratings from both Moody’s Investors Services and Standard & Poor’s during her tenure. In 2016, she was named the Ohio Treasurer of the Year by the Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO).
Logan’s many accomplishments include helping consult with state officials as they revamped Ohio’s laws for the Fair School Funding Act now in place. She has delivered numerous testimonies during state budget hearings and served as OASBO State President and OASBO Board of Directors Secretary.
“I am humbled and truly honored to serve the Sycamore Community Schools as the next Treasurer,” said Logan. “I look forward to working with the dedicated leaders, educators and community members to continue the excellent financial leadership this community deserves. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed a collaborative approach to assuring district resources are aligned to strategic priorities. I am energized and excited to begin that work here.”
Logan has spent the last year working as a consultant for Butler County Educational Services Center, providing interim treasurer services, coaching and mentoring new and aspiring treasurers, and conducting a curriculum rewrite of Essentials Coursework for OASBO.
Prior to joining Lakota, Logan spent time in the private sector, working as the Director of Robert W. Baird & Co. She also served as Treasurer for Milford Schools, Waverly Schools, and Pike County Career Tech Center and Pike County ESC. Her financial career started as an assistant auditor for the Auditor of the State of Ohio.
Logan’s achievements also include serving as lead banker for first school district Build America Bonds issues in Ohio and receiving the Chuck Gosset Legislative Advocacy Award in 2015.
Logan’s first day will be August 1. The district administration is looking forward to working with her.
