Sycamore Schools named Top Workplace
Sycamore Community Schools is proud to be named one of the region’s 2016 Top Workplaces by the Cincinnati Enquirer. Not only was Sycamore named one of the Top 100 places to work in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area, the district was one of 12 companies to be named Best in Show winning the category for “Meaningfulness.”
“I like working at Sycamore because I feel genuinely cared about and respected as an educator and as a person. I feel my opinion and ideas are value,” Beth Gaines, a teacher at Maple Dale Elementary, told the Enquirer. “Additionally, it’s great that the superintendent and other administrators are involved in the work that we are doing in our classrooms each day.”
Sycamore Schools was one of more than 1,854 workplaces invited to participate in the survey conducted by employee survey firm WorkplaceDynamics. The employee survey sought responses from about 23 statements covering seven factors including company alignment, execution, connection, training, work/personal life, administration, pay and benefits, and employee engagement. Over 32,999 employees who received questionnaires responded either on paper or online.
The organizational health factors were the most important to area employees, with “connection” and “alignment” as the most important. Pay and benefits were least important.
The anonymous responses by Sycamore employees included, “My job makes me feel like I am part of something meaningful,” and “[I enjoy] working with students to help them grow and become healthy, happy, productive adults.”
Employers were categorized into size bands, according to WorkplaceDynamics, because smaller employers tend to score higher than midsize employers, and midsize employers tend to score higher than large employers. Sycamore was categorized as a large employer with 816 current employees. The district was also named a Top Workplace in 2014.
