“I had done a few practice tests to prepare, so I felt pretty comfortable while taking the actual thing,” Malla said. “I was surprised because I wasn’t anticipating [a perfect score], but of course, I’m really happy knowing the effort I put in paid off in the end.”
Malla not only is a high academic achiever but also deeply involved at Sycamore High School and in the community. She is a member of Math Club, Science Bowl, Chemistry Club and National Honor Society. She also volunteers at Bethesda North Hospital and works as an instructor at Kumon Math and Reading Center of Blue Ash.
Malla was recently named one of Sycamore’s 19 National Merit Commended Scholars, placing her amongst the top 3% of all high school seniors in the United States.
“Sycamore offers a diverse range of courses and outside opportunities that are easy to take advantage of in developing as a student and person,” Malla said. “Not only that, but the teachers and my peers have also played a huge role in shaping me.”
Malla is interested in attending MIT, Harvard, Purdue, or the Ohio State University. She is interested in studying biomedical engineering with a minor in business. She is the daughter of Ganesh and Hira Malla of Montgomery.
Malla is the second Sycamore High School senior to score a perfect 36 on the ACT this year. Mitch Radakovich also achieved a perfect score. You can learn more about Radakovich by clicking here.
