Sycamore Congratulates Aves Football On Playoff Run

Aves Football playing in Regional Finals  
Sycamore Community Schools congratulates the 2016 Sycamore High School football team for their historic playoff run. The Aves under the leadership of Coach Scott Dattilo advanced to the Division I Regional Finals for the first time in school history.

Sycamore finished the season 8-5 after losing in overtime to St. Xavier 35-28. It was Sycamore’s first loss since September 30. The Aves started the season 2-4 including two overtime losses in the first two weeks. Sycamore beat Lebanon and Mason to advance to the Regional Final game.

Senior running back Ra’Von Bonner had 35 carries for 210 yards and three touchdowns in the final game of his high school career. The Illinois commit also set a school record for the longest run from scrimmage with a 99-yard touchdown with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter. Bonner was recently named to the Division I AP Southwest District first team.

Senior quarterback Jake Borman, who was also named an all-district selection , threw for 192 yards and played tough the entire game.

Borman was the starting quarterback the past 34 games for Sycamore while Bonner was a starter for the past 33 games. Bonner finished with 80 career rushing touchdowns and will be placed on the OHSAA's all-time career rushing touchdowns list.
