Sycamore Choral Students Work with World Renowned Conductor

Sycamore High School’s choral students just had the opportunity to work with an international conductor who has led concerts at Carnegie Hall.

Dr. James Bagwell, the conductor of the May Festival Youth Chorus, worked with Aviator Chorale Ladies on September 8. Dr. Bagwell has trained choruses for major American and international orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic and American Symphony Orchestra.

In addition, the Aviator Chorale Men, Bella Voce, and Select Ensemble had the opportunity to work with Matthew Swanson, May Festival Chorus Conducting Fellow.

The May Festival Youth Chorus was organized in 1987 to give high school students in the Greater Cincinnati area the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the Cincinnati Pops. Auditions are held in September and January.

The visit had the Lady Aves yawning but in a good way! Check out this video of Dr. Bagwell teaching yawning exercises to help them find their range while singing warm-ups.
