Sycamore High School Student Fights Hunger In Local Community

Sycamore High School Senior kicker Jacob Hasselbeck is changing the game, but not just on the football field. Hasselbeck is raising money for City Gospel Mission as part of the Kicking It for Hunger campaign.

The fundraiser helps provide food and a sense of security to needy people in the Cincinnati area. Click here to donate and press the "Give" button. Hasselbeck says any amount is helpful and every bit counts. Hasselbeck got involved at the beginning of the school year after learning about the great cause.

“I've always made an effort to be empathetic to those who are less fortunate,” said Hasselbeck. “I’ll never fully understand the issues that the less fortunate struggle with, but by educating myself and listening to them when they talk about it, it is easier to put myself in their shoes.”

He initially hoped to raise $500, but he has surpassed his goal thanks to the generous Sycamore community. Now he hopes to raise as much money as he can before the end of the campaign on January 5.
