Chad Lewis OASBO Business Award Sycamore Community Schools administrator Chad Lewis has been named the 2018 Outstanding Business Operations Manager of the Year for the state of Ohio.

The Ohio Association of School Business Officials (OASBO) presented the prestigious award to Lewis during the OASBO Annual Workshop and Trade Show in Columbus on April 18.

The award program recognizes the accomplishments of Ohio’s public school business officials for exceptional service to their school system, community, and profession.

“I am humbled and honored to receive this award, as there were numerous worthy candidates around the state,” said Lewis. “Being recognized by your colleagues and peers for your work is one of the highest honors one can receive.”

For six years, Lewis has served as Sycamore’s Director of Business Operations. In his first 24 months, he implemented sound business practices that resulted in approximately $1.2 million in savings.

“Mr. Lewis makes it his mission each day to refine our already strong business practices for the betterment of the district,” said Frank Forsthoefel, superintendent. “He is the true essence of a servant leader dedicated to finding cost efficiencies so resources can be focused on our classrooms and in our support of students.”

Lewis oversaw the completion of the new Maple Dale Elementary and District Office in 2013. He developed and continues to maintain a 10-year capital improvement as the district engages in Master Facility Planning for the future. Chad Lewis accepting award

In 2016, Lewis took on additional responsibilities as the Director of Business and Student Operations, serving as expulsion hearing officer, attendance officer, District Title IX Officer, and the Superintendent’s designee for suspension hearings in regards to student discipline.

“I appreciate the tremendous team of people that I work with every day. They deserve the recognition as well,” said Lewis. “We work as a collaborative group and the savings we have been able to achieve is due to the efforts of our team. I am honored to share this award with my Sycamore family.”
