Sycamore TPA Students Win National Titles
A group of students interested in becoming teachers just brought four national titles to Sycamore High School.
Five students in Sycamore’s Teaching Professions Academy (TPA) program competed at the Educators Rising National Conference last month in Orlando, Florida. All five students placed in the top 10 in their competition categories:
- Claire Myers, Kate Willis, & Allie Ross: second in Researching Learning Challenges
- Aria Oliver: second in Exploring Non-Core Subject Teaching Careers
- Aedan Williams: second in Lesson Planning & Delivery-Arts
- Josh Williams: tenth in Lesson Planning & Delivery- Humanities
More than 1,000 students and teacher leaders participated in the national conference, which included keynote speakers and engaging breakout sessions.
Sycamore’s TPA program gives students who are interested in teaching careers an overview of what to expect in their chosen field. TPA is a two-year program for juniors and seniors. Students enrolled get hands-on experience, working 120 hours in classrooms across the district.
