Ohio’s Board of Education gave Sycamore Schools the Momentum Award for the third year in a row.
The 2019 Momentum Award recognizing districts that received A's on every Value-Added measure included on Ohio’s school and district report cards. The district must also have at least two Value-Added subgroups of students, which includes gifted, lowest 20% in achievement, and students with disabilities. The Department of Education presented this award to only 48 districts across the state for exceeding expectations in student growth for the year.
“The students, teachers, administrators, and staff honored today are shining examples to peers and colleagues around Ohio,” said State Board of Education President Laura Kohler. “We are so proud of these award recipients and the effort they put into learning, leading and growing every day. We are both encouraged and challenged by the example of excellence they are setting.”
This is the third consecutive year that Sycamore Schools has received the award for exceeding expectations in student growth.
In addition, Sycamore High School was named a 2019 Momentum Award winner. Only 173 schools have secured the state board’s Momentum Award. Maple Dale Elementary, Montgomery Elementary, and Sycamore Junior High also received 2019 Overall “A” Awards for earning an Overall A on their school report card.
“Receiving this award for the third straight year is a testament to the district’s focus on ensuring each of our students make exemplary academic growth,” said Frank Forsthoefel, superintendent. “It is reflective of the investment of our students, the talent of our staff, and the support of our parents and community.”
