Sycamore Junior HIgh Welcomes New SRO

officer otte  Sycamore Junior High School is excited to welcome Officer Bob Otte as the new School Resource Officer (SRO) for the 2020-21 school year. 

"Officer Otte has been a welcome addition to the junior high team,” said Traci Rea, Sycamore Junior High principal. “His positive attitude and willingness to work with anybody makes him a true asset to our community.”

Officer Otte is an 18-year veteran of the Montgomery Police Department, serving as a narcotics investigator as part of the Drug Abuse Reduction Taskforce (DART), Hamilton County SWAT Team Asst. Commander, and more recently, the coordinator of the Montgomery Safety Village program for young children. Over the years, Officer Otte has been assigned as a Field Training Officer and has taught and mentored many new members of the department. Officer Otte has obtained his instructor skills certification and looks forward to teaching classes as part of his school responsibilities.

“He has already been building relationships with staff, students, and families, being visible and welcoming during our first days of school,” said Clay Lavercombe, Sycamore Junior High School assistant principal. “We are looking forward to our partnership with Officer Otte for years to come.”

Officer Otte will carry on the long partnership between Sycamore Community Schools and the Montgomery Police Department. Bob takes over for Officer James Martin at Sycamore Junior High and will partner with longtime Sycamore High School SRO, Officer Paul Payne, who is entering his 19th year.
