Sycamore Junior High Moves to Remote Learning for 12/18

After careful review of our COVID-19 cases, Sycamore Junior High will transition to remote learning only tomorrow, Friday, December 18. All face-to-face junior high students will be attending school remotely on this day.

Nine Sycamore Junior High students or staff have been diagnosed with COVID-19 since Friday, December 11. Right now, there is no definitive evidence of in-school transmission. However, approximately 40% of face-to-face students are currently quarantined due to potential exposure in and out of school. We are still in the process of completing contact tracing for the three cases reported today.

All students, including those healthy in quarantine, should attend school remotely from home on Friday, December 18. Please reference your learning guide, follow the school schedule attached on our Blackboard site, and meet with your teacher in Blackboard Collaborate Ultra or Google Meet. Students already in Virtual Classroom Learning will continue on with school without any disruption or changes.

As a reminder, all Sycamore Community Schools will be remote on Monday, January 4, and Tuesday, January 5, when we return from Winter Break as a preventative measure. Face-to-face learners will return to school in-person on Wednesday, January 6, pending a major shift to our student and staff health data.

We understand the burden it places on families and staff when we are forced to operate in various modes at different times, and sometimes, with minimum advance notice. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue to be nimble, flexible, and responsive to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff.
