Sycamore Partners With UC Health for Sports Medicine Services

UC Health is now providing comprehensive sports medicine services to student-athletes at Sycamore Community Schools.

UC Health has entered into a five-year agreement with the district to provide sports medical care for Aves Athletics. UC Health doctors and athletic trainers will work onsite at Sycamore High School and on the sidelines during sporting events. Through the new contract, students will have access to UC Health doctors and specialists. The agreement provides a $525,000 donation to the Always An Aviator capital campaign.

“We want to thank UC Health for their generous donation. This partnership provides necessary financial support for the new multi-use stadium. We could not build this facility without their tremendous support,” said Chad Lewis, superintendent.

Dr. Bart Branam will serve as Sycamore’s team physician, overseeing the Aves Athletics sports medicine department. Dr. Branam is an orthopedic surgeon with UC Health. He attended and played varsity football at Denison University, graduating in 1998. He subsequently graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2002. He completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency at the University of Cincinnati before spending a year of additional training at the University of Kentucky, where he completed a Sport Medicine Fellowship. Dr. Branam has served as team physician for multiple schools in the Greater Cincinnati area, including most recently Colerain High School. He has three children in Sycamore Schools.

Our athletes will see familiar faces on the training staff. The contract with UC Health allows the current high school training staff to remain the same. Chris Bonnell and Rachel Jenkins will continue to serve our students. Megan Gusky will serve the student-athletes at Sycamore Junior High.
