Sycamore Community Schools Support Service Director is retiring after eight years of serving our great district. 

David Foster will retire at the end of the 2022-23 school year. He came to Sycamore in 2015 from Fairfield City Schools. During his tenure, Mr. Foster oversaw the district’s maintenance, custodial, and safety programs.

“Mr. Foster’s incredible talent and expertise will be greatly missed, specifically his experience with ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and buildings,” said Brad Lovell. “We are deeply appreciative of his time and commitment to Sycamore.”

Mr. Foster also assisted the Director of Business Operations in capital improvement projects throughout the district. He was instrumental in management of the district’s $127.5 million Master Facility Plan projects. 

Mr. Foster has played an important role in the Sycamore Safe and Secure Schools Committee, leading oura partnership with local law enforcement to continually improve our safety plans and conduct threat assessments. He has helped organize multi-agency training efforts for staff and local first responders, including large-scale active shooter drills and tabletop exercises with students and staff. 

“Mr. Foster has a passion for service and teaching,” said Chad Lewis, Superintendent. “He is a natural leader in the area of operations and has been critical to the success of our construction projects and school safety. We will miss his focused leadership, critical thinking, and his efforts in outreach to students, staff, and our local partnerships to ensure our continued safety and security.”

Prior to his career in education, Mr. Foster served in the United States Marine Corps for 23 years between 1980-2003, his service included multiple deployments including Combat Operations and Humanitarian tours worldwide. He received multiple awards for his service, including the CINCY Soldiers Award by the My GI Foundation and the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal. 

Mr. Foster also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Haile/U.S. Bank College of Business at Northern Kentucky University, teaching business management and project management courses to undergraduate students.

The district is currently interviewing to fill Mr. Foster’s position.
