SHS Student Named Rensselaer Medal Winner

Ananya Mahavratayajula Sycamore High School senior Ananya Mahavratayajula has achieved a remarkable feat by being named a 2023 Rensselaer Medal winner.

For over a century, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in collaboration with high schools worldwide, has awarded the Rensselaer Medal and scholarship to exceptional high school juniors who have truly excelled in mathematics and science. Ananya's dedication and accomplishments have rightfully earned her this prestigious recognition.

Ananya's hard work has been rewarded with a well-deserved merit scholarship, valued at $40,000/year ($160,000 overall), guaranteed for four years (or five years for the Bachelor of Architecture program).

Ananya is a shining star in various school and extracurricular activities. She actively contributes to Sycamore Robotics’ FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST Tech Challenge, participates in the GE Next Engineers program, excels in Martial Arts, and showcases her skills in speech and debate.

Her commitment to making a difference extends beyond the school grounds. She received the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service award for her outstanding fundraising efforts for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LL&S) and her dedication to mentoring youth through iSPACE.

Additionally, Ananya was selected as a student council member of the Ohio Student Safety Advisory Council by Governor Mike DeWine, attending the inaugural session in Columbus this past August.
