The Board of Education has approved the hiring of Greg Cole as principal at E.H. Greene Intermediate. Mr. Cole is a familiar face for students and families. He has served all 22 years of his educational career in Sycamore Community Schools and was a graduate of Sycamore High School.

“Mr. Cole's experience as a student, educator, administrator, and parent within our district uniquely positions him to lead E.H. Greene Intermediate School." said Superintendent Chad Lewis. “Throughout his tenure, Mr. Cole's contributions have been instrumental in shaping the educational landscape and school culture. As Mr. Cole steps into his new role, his dedication to student success, personalization of student learning, and community engagement will continue to leave a mark on our district."

Mr. Cole has been an assistant principal at Sycamore Junior High since 2022, spearheading a collaborative effort with students, staff, and families to define the building’s core values: Connection, Preparation, and Experiences, enhancing the culture at the junior high. Mr. Cole collaborated with administrators to redefine the role of the Building Leadership Team as instructional leaders, contributed to the development of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) Framework, and initiated a five-year plan to enhance family and community engagement.

“I am excited and honored about the opportunity to join the Greene School team,” said Mr. Cole. “As a proud Sycamore parent, our family has experienced the wonderful relationships and experiences the staff create.  As a former Greene School student, I am honored with the unique opportunity to help support the tradition of academic excellence.  I look forward to joining the administrative staff in providing the students and staff with the tools and support they need to thrive.”

Mr. Cole spent the first four years of his career at Sycamore Junior High, teaching American History and World Geography. He then moved to Sycamore High School where he taught American History, Economics, Government, and other electives for 16 years. He collaborated with other leaders to develop and launch the Synnovation Lab in 2019, where he has been a department supervisor and teacher for four years before taking an administrative role in 2022.
