Sycamore Students Bring Home 165 Scholastic Art Awards
Sycamore Community Schools students just won more 2019 Regional Scholastic Art awards than any other district in the Greater Cincinnati area.
Sycamore High School and Junior High students received 165 awards during this year's regional competition. That's 10% of the recognition given out by the prestigious competition. More than 6,000 entries were submitted from 78 public, private, and home schools across the region. Of those entries, 1,600 were declared winning works.
"We are so excited about the outstanding results and successes of our talented art, architecture, and fashion students," said Elise Williams, Sycamore High School teacher.
Sixty-five Sycamore students were recognized for their work; some were awarded for more than one submission. Sycamore received 47 Gold Key awards, 47 Silver Key awards, and 71 Honorable Mentions. Categories included Photography, Film & Animation, Drawing and Illustration, Ceramics and Glass, Fashion, Painting, Printmaking, Digital Art, Sculpture, Architecture & Industrial Design, Comic Art and Mixed Media.
The Gold Key award winners now advance to the National Scholastic Competition. Their works are heading to New York to compete against other regional winners from across the United States.
