Sycamore Welcomes New Asst. Superintendent

Sycamore Schools is excited to announce the appointment of Meghan Lawson as the new Assistant Superintendent overseeing curriculum. The Sycamore Board of Education approved her hiring at their March 6 meeting. With an extensive background in educational leadership, Meghan brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of driving positive change in academic environments.

“Meghan's leadership style is characterized by a commitment to creating a culture of connection, hope, belonging, and engagement,” said Chad Lewis, superintendent. “She has demonstrated a passion for fostering deeper learning experiences and ensuring that decision-making processes are informed by data. We are confident that Meghan's wealth of experience and dedication to educational excellence will contribute to the continued success and growth of the district.”

Meghan most recently served as the Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning at West Clermont School District. During her tenure, Meghan demonstrated exceptional leadership by leading secondary building teams, evaluating principals, overseeing curriculum development, programming, and special education initiatives. She played a pivotal role in tripling community partnerships, fostering authentic learning experiences, and initiating programs such as the aerospace program, teacher academy program, and UC Early IT program.

As a forward thinking community of practice, we can empower all learners to reach their fullest potential, while continuing Sycamore’s legacy as a destination school district for years to come.”

Before her role at West Clermont, Meghan served as the Coordinator of Instructional Services at Hamilton County ESC, where she facilitated regional meetings, delivered professional learning, and successfully coordinated contracts and services with various school districts. Her dedication to instructional excellence and collaboration contributed significantly to the success of the educational programs within the region.

Prior to her position at Hamilton County ESC, Meghan served as the Associate Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning at Forest Hills School District. She led teaching and learning for grades 7-12, including overseeing course-of-studies planning. She spearheaded key initiatives such as removing class rank from student transcripts, transitioning weighted grades to a 5-point scale, eliminating Val/Sal distinctions, and implementing later school start times for grades 7-12.

Meghan Lawson holds a Bachelor's degree in education and a Master's degree in Arts in Teaching from Miami University of Ohio. She also holds her principal license, superintendent license, and gifted endorsement from Xavier University. She also recently published a book “Legacy of Learning: Teaching for Lasting Impact” and writes a weekly blog to encourage and inspire busy educators.
