FIRST LEGO League and Robotics Teams Head To State
Congratulations to two Sycamore teams that won awards at the FIRST LEGO League Ohio Championship.
Brick Girls, representing Sycamore Junior High and Edwin H. Greene Intermediate School with an additional student from Mason Intermediate School, won the Judges Award.
Legion of Legos, with students from Sycamore Junior High, won the Core Values Teamwork Award.
More than 60 teams from all over Ohio participated in the two-day competition at the Wright State University Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio, on Feb. 2-3, 2019. Overall approximately 500 teams competed in regional FLL tournaments in Ohio this season.
To qualify for state, the teams competed at the Loveland Robotics District Qualifier on Jan. 5. At district, Brick Girls received the Teamwork Award, and Legion of Legos received the
Three additional Sycamore teams competed at the district level on Jan. 5, and all received awards.
- Electric Warriors, representing Blue Ash Elementary with an additional student from Hilltop Elementary in Reading, received the Judges Award.
- Green Machines, a neighborhood team with students from Greene and Maple Dale Elementary, won the Coach Award.
- MicroBots, representing Greene with an additional student from Madeira Middle School, won the Robot Programming Award.
All of these teams had advanced from first round regional competitions in December 2018.
Head out to support four Sycamore FIRST LEGO League Jr. teams with 2nd and 3rd graders from the various elementary schools at an expo at iSpace in Sharonville on Sat., Feb. 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event is free to the public. Several FIRST Tech Challenge teams from Sycamore Junior High and Sycamore High School have qualified for state tournaments. More details will be released at a future date.
