Three New Administrators Welcomed to Sycamore Schools
Sycamore Community Schools is excited to announce several district administration changes for the 2021-22 school year.
In addition to Chad Lewis officially becoming Superintendent on August 1, the Sycamore Board of Education has approved three new administrators to join the district team. Each individual was selected through an extensive interview process:
- Kelly Wegener, Assistant Superintendent
- Brad Lovell, Director of Business Operations
- Becky Tompkins, Director of Curriculum and Instruction
“I am excited about the new team members that are joining our Sycamore family. They bring a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise in their respective fields,” said Lewis. “These individuals understand how to deliver on the goals of our strategic plan.”
Kelly Wegener has served Sycamore Community Schools since 2018 as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Prior to arriving at Sycamore, she was an instructional coach and consultant for Hamilton County Education Service Center for seven years, supporting districts across Greater Cincinnati with student-centered, research-based instructional practices. Wegener has also served as a math teacher and secondary math curriculum specialist in Lakota Schools, Coshocton City Schools, and Hamilton City Schools. Wegener replaced Karen Naber, who retired at the end of the 2020-21 school year.
“I am looking forward to building upon the excellence for which Sycamore is known,” said Wegener. “We have so many great things already going but our vision for the future is to achieve an even higher level of excellence for our students and staff. It is an honor to serve the Sycamore community in this new role.”
Brad Lovell will replace Lewis as Director of Business Operations. Lovell has been an education consultant for Hamilton County Education Service Center since 2018, facilitating strategic planning at eight districts across the region. Lovell was previously a principal at both Lakota Local Schools and Milford Exempted Village Schools and the Director of Global and Local Partnerships for Crossroads. He has also served as a Board of Education member for Lakota Local Schools since 2017.
“It’s an honor to be able to work alongside so many amazing professionals dedicated to supporting and creating safe and engaging spaces for each of our students to learn and grow. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of the legacy of excellence in the Sycamore School community.”
Becky Tompkins will join Sycamore Schools, replacing Wegener as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. She has served in the same role at Ross Local Schools since 2016. Prior to that, she has 24 years of education experience as an English and Language Arts teacher, literacy coach, and teaching and learning specialist/literacy coordinator at Lakota Local Schools and Hamilton City Schools.
“It is with honor, gratitude, and excitement that I step into the role of Director of Curriculum,” said Tompkins. “I’m humbled to move into the Aviator family fold and I’m ready to get to work to support staff, students, the community to achieve everything and more.”
The district is also in the process of hiring a new Director of Human Resources to replace Brian Wallace. Wallace accepted an assistant principal position in Lakota Schools after serving Sycamore for 15 years.
